Ian Laval has been a professional furniture designer/maker since 1970. His workshop is at Brentwood Bay near Victoria, British Columbia.  He works by traditional hand methods entirely with native timbers. For many years he has felled and processed much of his own wood to obtain material to the exacting requirements of high quality cabinetmaking. His designs develop some of the classic forms of European furniture, embellished with beautiful veneers sawn from the same native trees.
